Well, You should be able to install a standalone binary, just by leaving out
the "--with-apache"-directive when You
run "./configure". After the "./configure", run "make", then
"make install".
The binary should be installed under "/usr/local/bin"
or possibly "/opt/bin".
I haven´t duplicated this on PHP v. >= 4, however it´s unlikely this will
have changed.
If any of You guys out there knows better, please post a correction note.
;_)
When using the PHP-binary, just make sure the installed path is in Your
PATH-variable:
# "env | grep PATH" will reveal all registered paths.
If this checks out ok:
# "php [your_script.php]" will parse Your script through the engine, or if
You use Bash just
make the first line of Your script:
"#!/[path_to_php]/php"
"chmod 755 [script]".
and run the script itself; Bash will know to use the PHP-engine to parse the
file. :-)
Good luck,
Henrik J.
