PHP+Apache Question

This has probably been asked before, but I want to know from those actually running (Red Hat) Fedora: how well does the stock PHP (4.3.x) work with the stock httpd (Apache 2.x)? Are PHP developers still concerned about that combination? Should I not bother and roll my own source?
