Hi folks,
Because the .DLL version of PHP was causing grief for ASP on our WinNT 4
server, I recently switched over to the .EXE version of PHP.
I use PHP with an Access database via ODBC. I am starting to suspect that
PHP ODBC functionality is buggy.
When I switched to the CGI version of PHP, the following variables/functions
stopped working:
$DOCUMENT_ROOT
odbc_fetch_row($dbresult)
Now, I can get around the $DOCUMENT_ROOT being absent, but having
odbc_fetch_rows be broken is killing me. The docs indicate that making a
call like this:
$fetchRes = odbc_fetch_row($allTables);
should put either a true (1) or false (0) into $fetchRes. It does neither.
When I:
echo fetchRes:$fetchRes.";
all I get is:
"fecthRes:."
This means that whenever I want to loop through the rows of a query, I get
stuck in an endless loop, because I use:
while(odbc_fetch_row($allTables))
{
statements
}
..and nothing ever happens.
I hope I have documented this well. Please let me know if anyone can
reproduce this, or if I have made an obvious installation error.
Thanks very much,
michael geary
