Error with ftp_get()

Hi guys.
It's possible that my english sometimes isn't so good. I'm a small german boy.
At the moment i am working on a WebFTP client. All the stuff like list,mkdir,rm(dir),put works. But when i use ftp_get() an error appears:
Warning: ftp_get(): 'RETR ' not understood.
I guess 'RETR' is a message from FTPServer to PHP and PHP don't understand it. So, can you tell me, how to avoid this?
