There are many ways, it would help if you tell us what form are the dates in - timestamp, formated string, sql date column ...
Sorry, The dates are retrieved from the database so are stored as YYYY-MM-DD HH-MM-SS in MySQL Thanks for your help

Let mysql do it: SELECT TO_DAYS(date1) - TO_DAYS(date2) AS number_of_days ...
