There really only a couple of options.
1) Depending on the database you are using there may be a 'switch' to
allow case-insensitive searches. For example MySql (newest versions)
are by default case-insensitive in their searches. Other databases
like MsSQl is case-insensitive IF you have the switch on. Look at the
docs for your database. Search on case ..
2) Before you submit the data to the server you will have to convert
all lowercase to uppercase or visa-versa. This is probably not the
best alternative as then you have other formatting problems for
output.
