Yep, I'd agree with the above comments. If you're interested in one solution, check out HAWHAW, it has a proxy server for detecting/serving web pages via regular browsers and mobile devices. I haven't tried it in a long time though, so it might need updating but can still show you an example of how to detect mobile devices versus webpages.
