I'm having a problem uploading large files through a browser to a web server
using PHP3 as a dynamically loadable module and Apache on a Red Hat Linux
system.
The problem is that when uploading large files, when the apache httpd
process handling the upload grows to a size of around 8500000 bytes it
aborts and PHP returns a userfile of "none." The problem isn't with my code
since smaller files work fine.
I've done some perusing of the archives and found that this is not an
unusual problem with PHP because of the way its POST handler is implemented.
However, there are some recommended work arounds .. unfortunately, these
work arounds aren't working for me ..
At this point, my theory is that either a PHP or Apache memory limit for the
httpd process is being reached. By analyzing the httpd process in question
via top I've determined that the procedure aborts when the httpd process
grows to a size of approx 8,500,000 bytes.
I've tried adding the directive:
php3_memory_limit 20000000
in order to work around the problem if it is a PHP3 memory limit.
phpinfo shows that the master limit is still ca. 8500000 and the local value
is increased to the value set in the php3_memory_limit directive.
Unfortunately, the scripts behavior does not change.
Just in case the limit was due to Apache, I've tried adding this directive
..
RMemLimit 20000000
This has no effect either.
Any help appreciated ..
Thanks
Bryan
