Thanks, I think I'm almost back in business. I've removed my
offending apache installations (I think) I reinstalled Apache from the
RedHat secureweb RPM (Apache 1.3.12 +SSL +???) and got it
running fine w/o PHP.
I then reran my PHP configure from scratch (deleting config.cache
first). Using --with-apxs only worked WITHOUT the path, but the
make install ultimately did not complain.
I then stopped and started httpd... or tried to start httpd. I get an
error indicating that libphp4.so is not found. It seems that my
apache install wants the shared objects to reside in
/etc/httpd/lib/apache and they were installed into /usr/local/lib.
I tried copying the files into the /etc/httpd/lib/apache directory, but
it still chokes. Samantha recommended running make install on
Apache after PHP, but the RPM doesn't want to do this --
attempting to 'upgrade' from the RPM fails, and although I have
package that looks like a source RPM, it doesn't want to unpack in
GnoRPM.
I'm open to suggestions and really appreciate any help anyone can
give. It's been a really long night, and I need to get this running in
the morning.
Thanks,
J!M
