[snip] Is anyone aware of a way via headers, or just plain voodoo, that will make a temporary file that IE uses not use the square brackets? i.e. foo[1].xls [/snip] Are you you trying to tell IE what the name of the file is right now with headers? I noticed when I did this with https ie ignored whatever name I gave that file. I was having the same kind of problem with IE. Try to actually create the file on the website somewhere, some directory within the website directories, then do a redirect to that file. Let me know if you need a better explanation.
I had the EXACT same problem. I set the Content-Type and Content-Disposition headers and god knows what else. Everything I tried was duly ignored by IE. So listen to Matt -- write the file out to the server somewhere, then use a redirect. If the file contains secure information, then you can add an intermediate step of creating a small popup window that contains the link. Then, when the popup closes, set the location.href of the opening window to a PHP file that deletes the file you just created. Not airtight security, but better than nothing. cheers, Travis -- Travis Low <mailto:travis@dawnstar.com> <http://www.dawnstar.com>
