Yes. Since the mail() function relies on the local MTA, you will need
either sendmail, qmail, or similar. If you cannot rely on the MTA (or if
you don't want to install sendmail or qmail) you can send the mail directly
to a mail server using SMTP. I have a sample SMTP class is you would like
to see it. It is just a copy from "Professional PHP Programming". I use it
because even though I do have a local mail transport agent (sendmail) I
don't want to configure it. Besides, I am sending mail to a different
server anyway.

Hi!
I have a php form with :
mail("lista@dynastar.com.ar", "VOTACIÓN", "Nombre: $nombre...etc
The question is: do i need an MTA (sendmail or qmail) running on the same
server that hosts the form ?
Thanks
Max
