I don't know much about xml, but I was under the impression that you
couldn't intermix <!blah blah blah> type tags with xml tags. Those go at
the very top of the doc or in a dtd. But I might be wrong.
Did you validate your xml file with something like xmllint?? It might
catch some errors.
