Hello everybody!
Long-time, no post. (Not even lurking.) :-(
Zend is keeping me pretty darn busy.
The much-anticipated and long-overdue PHP InstallFest and Tutorial has
FINALLY been scheduled:
Chicago PHP User's Group (http://chiphpug.php.net/)
October 28th, 2000
12:00 noon PHP InstallFest; 1:00 pm Tutorial
Type A Multimedia, 434 West Ontario, Suite 300
(Downtown Chicago, by Ontario entrance to 90/94)
Thanks for your patience and understanding -- We've moved the meeting back a
bit from our original tentative plans, because the site was up and down so
much: We didn't want to have anybody miss it.
Bring a laptop, and we'll install PHP for you! PHP can be installed on
Linux, Un*x, even Windows! Some brave souls are even trying it on Mac
YellowDog and other Mac-based Unices -- But we can't help you much with
those...
Our survey (http://chiphpug.php.net/survey.php) about what to cover is still
ongoing -- so let us know what topics to focus on.
We're working on a "mirror" site, in case of more troubles. Hang tight!
Directions to Type A:
(I'm mostly a cab-rider myself, so...)
Head downtown on 90/94.
Exit on Ohio.
Turn North (left) on that first street at the bottom of the ramp.
Soft left from the RIGHT-most lane onto Ontario, NOT THE RAMP.
It feels more like you are "crossing" the Ontario entrance ramp than
anything really, but technically you are turning left onto Ontario.
For those of you unfamiliar with the area -- At some point or other, you've
been to one of those theme restaurants -- Jordan's, Hard Rock, Whatever.
When you left one of those joints, you almost-for-sure ended up on a big,
fat street (Ontario) and then it sort of led you right onto the 90/94
expressway ramp. Well, if you stay in the right lane of Ontario, you can
sort of "veer off" at the last second before getting on that ramp, and that
pretty much is where Type A is. :-)
If all else fails: http://www.mapsonus.com is good.
Disclaimer: I've been known to give directions like "turn right when you
smell chocolate" :-)
