It is now working when I use php from a command line (calling php.exe). If I
undo a couple of changes that I did to make the document "well-formed", I
get a lot of warnings, but domxml_open_file does return something useful.
More specifically, domxml_open_file is now reading a HTML file and dump_mem
will write the HTML out to standard output.
Perhaps a system restart was needed; if so, then saying that the problem is
obviously with the data sure did not help. The only other change I am aware
of is that I applied the SP2 fix for XP (which is a major fix).
So now, when Apache starts, it does not complain that it can't find the
extension DLLs, but domxml_open_file is still returning null from the Apache
environment but the exact same thing is working from the command line. So I
have looked at both php.ini and the Apache conf file and they look okay, but
I will continue to look.
