It does seem odd. Mine are in:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4.11
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so
They are the default installed with X11.

Good call, Curt.
That happens when you untar something that was originally created on another
machine with different users and groups... like a source tarball. Was libxpm
actually installed or just untared there?
