open an https url from php file

Hello PHP Programmers,
I need an urgent help in php.
I tried to open https urls as i open http urls , using fopen
$fp=fopen("https://url.com","r")
Then a wrapper error occures.
I am not much familiar with php, also I am a computer student.
Can anybody help me by providing the code to open the https urls.
