Is a (bug in a) script allowed to cause such a crash? What is the PHP policy regaring crashes and fatal errors? Under Apache pre-fork model only the current process that is serving a PHP request will die when the PHP engine crashes. This is why Apache in the pre-fork model is more robust than multi-threaded servers like IIS.Or Apache with the threaded MPM.
