I suppose you could try something with frames. Keep you main page, then
update a frame. But http protocol is usually considered "stateless" Which
means limited ability to update text once it has already been transferred.
Check out some php chat programs. They typically do a good job updated as
little html as possible, while maintaining a static HTML page feel. I don't
believe XML has anything to do with your problem.
