I am currently developing a large scale intranet for my company and FWIW... if stablility is an issue, why use Micro$oft at all? After two months of deliberations, my company made the following decisions..... 1. Access must be global and portable --- decision --> make it browser based 2. Uptie is of paramount importance --- decision --> use unix/Linux NOT MS As it is for internal use, we could dicatate which browser and what functions to support we chose DHTML, Layers, cookies/sessions(yes) and NS4.71 ad above, IE5.1 and above... all logins are PHP controlled sessions..(accessing mySQL databases) from there, it is easy to create your Intranet. figure out how it is going to be used before you decide what to build it with... just my $00.02 worth ! richard -----Original Message----- From: elmaallam mina [mailto:mina_el@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, October 13, 2000 10:51 AM To: php-general@lists.php.net Subject: [PHP] architecture n-tiers & PHP hello i want to develop an intranetbur before i must choice the adequet architectrure for this. i know that there is different architecture like DNA(Microsoft),Websphere(IBM)... perhaps i'll use DNA but i don't know the best of using: 1-MTS(Microsoft Transactionnnel Server), IIS(web Server)& ASP, Informaix (Unix) 2-MTS, IIS & ASP, Oracle(Win NT) 3-MTS,Apache &PHP,Informix(Unix) 4-MTS,Apache & PHP, Oracle(Win NT). i'm waiting for your suggestion ... thanx in advance __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
