Extension help

Hello all, I have the source code for a C library who's functions i wish to expose to php. Ideally i'd like to be able to use dl() or put the library file location into php.ini to allow use of the functions. Is there a tutorial on how to do this? I've read over the Zend API stuff, and i dont mind doing some configuation, but a list of the steps would be very handy today...
