Actually, this is an interesting point. Steve, I guess what you suggested is the best possible approach if the files to be displayed are ONLY text. But what if I need to provide a whole HTML based content management system, where the files include HTML tags and images (images tags within the HTML, that is), and are placed inside a predetermined folder, and these files need to be "INCLUDED" (or FREAD) into my overall page code? IN this case, I dont need to strip the HTML tags.. Ok, this is not the point of this email. The point is: is what I just described a good approach for content management? The one alternative that I can think of, and the onethat is generally used is that we have database fields for each attribute of the products: name, price, short description, even an image etc. But this limits me to a pre-determined template and I basically read data from the database and each product from the catalog looks EXACTLY the same on the website..."image on top left, name in bold, description below it.." and so on. What if the content editors needed the flexibility to create a different layout with each page that they create..in this case the vanilla database-backed catalog goes out the window. One way to handle this is in the way I mentioned above: have them save their HTML files etc, then just INCLUDE or REQUIRE these files and just strip all the HTML, HEAD, TITLE, STYLE and BODY tags.. Is there a better way to do this? Hope I made myself clear! </Shanx> | | These are all great but I would recommend loading the text into | a var and running functions like strip_tags(); --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
