resource-handle when connecting to DB

Hello !
I use $dbhandle = pg_connect(...) to open a connection to a
PostgreSQL-Database. This all works fine. Now something wend wrong,
because the connections are opened, but not closed, so I'm trying to
locate the error.
The problem:
- I call pg_connect the first time and print $dbhandle, it's "Resource
id #1"
- I call pg_connect the secondtime and print $dbhandle, it's "Resource
id #1", too (?)
Can someone tell my, why ?
