$HTTP_*_VARS is deprecated in PHP5, so if the server is running PHP5,
this code won't work. Instead, you should use $_POST
> $username = $HTTP_POST_VARS['username'];
> $password = $HTTP_POST_VARS['password'];
change to:
$username = $_POST['username'];
$password = $_POST['password'];
