Hi all, I am using Redhat 6.2, Apache 1.3.12, php 3.0.15 and MySQL 3.23.22 for a particular project. I am having a problem in making the MySQL and PHP to communicate, which is haunting me since 3 days. I tried my best to give complete description here. When i am trying to connect the MySQL database through a php script, which ofcourse includes the mysql_connect() function, it is giving the following error. "call to unsupported or undefined function mysql_connect() in /home/httpd/html/submitform.php3" What i could understand is MySQL and PHP are not communicating with each other. As the Redhat 6.2 version comes with the PHP support but not with the MySQL support, i am forced to recompile PHP with the following command. ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --enable-track-vars As i could not find the configure program in the PHP directory i have downloaded the php-4.0.2.tar.gz and installed it with the php 3.0.15 still running on my computer(i don't know whether i am supposed to do like that or not). This made me to have the configure program in the PHP directory. While installing and running the above command, it is giving the "Configure: error: can not find header files under /usr/local/mysql" error and it is unable to create the makefile. As i have installed the MySQL from the RPMs they have created the header files such as chardefs.h, history.h, mysql.h, tilde.h in the /usr/include/mysql directory, so instead i have used the following command. ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/include/mysql --enable-track-vars Still no joy, it is giving the same error and can not create the make file. Lots of thanks to whomever responds Chakravarthy K Sannedhi
