That would depend on the OS, rather than the page encoding type
You can enter chinese on an english encoded page, you just need to turn on
chinese if using english windows -
ie using Chinese Star / NJWin / Richwin / MS IME / your preferred input
method / Sunrise (accck)
If using Chinese windows - just type.
Mac OS - select Chinese...
The encoding is just used for display purposes - (and for you to know how to
store it gb/big5/...) mediumtext binary works nicely for me to store
anything...
If you need more info, contact me off list.
Cheers,
Lawrence.

Subject: [PHP] Encoding type of an input box?
Hi folks,
Hoping to draw upon someone's slightly more vast knowledge than
my own here.
Some background.
A user wishes to check the availability of a multilingual domain
name, they enter the name in, say, GB encoding and select a GB
extension.
On the next page, I've detected the GB extension and output the
appropriate <META> tag for the GB charset encoding. I'm also
redisplaying the user's input in an identical form to the previous
page. The problem is that the text in the input string is only
showing normal rather than GB-encoded characters.
Does anyone know how I can change the charset encoding type on
an input box...?
Jason
