Hello,
I think PHP is awesome. A thought just occurred to me. PHP has tons of text
and file manipulation functions. Can I run the PHP "interpreter" on its own
on my Win 98 machine? For example, I downloaded the php distribution for
windows and there is the cgi binary. Can I do
php myscript.php
and assume the output is to the screen? That would be cool. I wonder how
functions like mail() would work, however. Would the windows PHP use winsock
to do this function?
If this works, this has great promise, at least for me. Its like batch
file/scripting for windows on steroids, without me having to learn VB Script
or some other inferior language.
Alan
