Thanks for the reply. Yes, I?ve checked the manual.
But I really think set_socket_timeout (in PHP4, socket_set_timeout) should work under PHP3. Am I
totally wrong?

Well, I don't see set_socket_timeout but I see socket_set_timeout and the
manual says PHP4...
