Header() questions

I need some help in understanding Headers and the header() function. Is there some good reference material on the subject? My goal is to send a sentence via the header() function. For example: header("LOCATION: http://208.204.177.137/MyScript.php?SENTENCE=" . $mysentence); How do I insert the "+" for the spaces in $mysentence as well as other characters that must be "escaped"? Another question is about "GET" and "POST". It appears that the above syntax is using the "GET" method of passing data. Is it possible to mimic the "POST" method with the header function.
