Well, why not first check for existance of the file then check if its able to write to the new location, do something like,
if(!file_exists('/my/file/name')) {
echo 'File does not exist';
}
if(!is_writable('/my/new/file/name')) {
echo 'Destination dir is not writable';
}
then finally check if the actual file was renamed or not,
what else would you need to check for?
