copy & permissions

I've created a upload script with php. When it comes
to copy the uploaded file to the desired directory
(copy($userfile,$destination_dir.$userfile_name);)
php returns the following warning:
"Warning: Unable to create 'dok//Cha0600b.xls': Permission denied in /home/tintsch/public_html/swisscharts/index.php on line 344"
What is this "permission denied" all about? Do I have to change
the permissions of the script? and how?
