You should see a Java section in your phpinfo() output. I'd go back to square 1. Do you have Java installed? Is its Suns Java (im guess you're on linux) or is it IBM's etc. Make sure Java works properly first, have a look at the readme and try recompiling. If you have no Java information in your phpinfo() output then it doesnt sound like it was installed correctly. mn -----Original Message----- From: Martin [mailto:martin@thomatechnik.de] Sent: Monday, October 23, 2000 9:14 PM To: php-general@lists.php.net Subject: Java-Mess Hello ! I tried to call a Java-class from php. I tried to make small steps, so the first thing I did was: <? $j = new Java("java.lang.System"); // This is line 2 ?> With the result: Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: java in /var/www/html/java.php on line 2 So what went wrong ? I have configured php '--with-java'. But in phpinfo(), there is no other hint on java then this. Help ! Martin
