Couple of things: - Please don't make yourself sound like an arrogant ingrate unless you don't want help - Please try and provide as much useful information as possible so that ppl can easily help you. You don't even state what system you're using, and what permissions are set on the /tmp dir you created. It appears you're on windows because your error message says H:, but then you state that you created /tmp which is impossible to do on a win32 system, and tends to give the impression you're on a broken Linux system (because you were able to create /tmp when it should already exist) - Make sure your webserver/script has permission to write to this /tmp directory. For what it's worth, I copied and pasted your code into a script on a WinNT 4/IIS4 box and ran it, and got the same error message as you, only mine had a slash in the other direction: open(/tmp\sess_83f15aad3efc836650ebb9656719fce3, O_RDWR) failed As soon as I created c:\tmp as user Administrator, it worked fine and wrote the session file to c:\tmp jason I tried to do this... session_start(); session_register('counter'); $counter = 1; And I get this crap... Warning: open(/tmp/sess_7776d98a661616151ebf904fb07d08f5, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in H:\MY LOCATION OF THE PAGE/PAGE.PHTMLon line 2 Warning: open(/tmp/sess_7776d98a661616151ebf904fb07d08f5, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Failed to write session data. Please check that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0 The session.save_path is set to /tmp in my php.ini file. So I created a tmp dir in the root. And still got it. WHat do I need to do to fix this? anyone?
