Not to put down your efforts or anything, but what's wrong with SimpleXML, DOM XML, XML Reader, XML Parser etc. all of which are native PHP functions? I don't know, I've not looked at them. Does offering another implementation of a concept imply that there is something wrong with existing implementations? If that is the case, I wouldn't have bothered sharing since I don't want to offend anyone. It was just a learning exercise.
