Session vars without Cookies via URL

I've got aproblem:
After a User logged in, I need his or her Username in a Session var.
Sadly, some companies deactivate cookies, so that I have to forward the
username with the URL. My prob is, that the manual's expample for SID usage
does not work... Does anyone have an example file or a tutorial where
session vars are forwarded with the url?
