I've never used (or seen) this function in PHP before, but knowing mail, why
would you try pop/port 110 here:
> <?
> $mbox = imap_open ("{pop.pussplayhouse.com/pop3:110}", "boots",
> "beccam72");
and then imap/port 143 here:
> echo "<p><h1>Mailboxes</h1>\n";
> $folders = imap_listmailbox ($mbox, "{your.imap.host:143}", "*");
???? 143 is the (default) port that IMAP uses.
