PHP4 Sessions

I'm looking for a good way to control sessions in PHP4.
Right now the way I have things setup, the script works great. But it uses
cookies and data will remain set in the browser for awhile because of the
cookies. Is there a way to setup sessions so that data only remains for a
current session. Or how could I set it up to not use cookies, and use an SID
number instead. I've tried to just use the SID internally in the links, but
whenever a page loads, it loads a new SID too.
Can someone help figure this out for me?
