I know every month or so someone asks "What's a good web hosting company to use for my PHP projects?".. I have most of the responses archived and have searched online a bit, but I have a specific "wish" and was hoping someone else had already found a good hosting company that'd let me do what I want.
You may find this interesting -- I found a host on eBay for only $6.95 per year. I figured, what the heck, the most I could lose was $7 so I tried it. Now it's my main site to do my coding. I never have any problems and the host is reasonable (but slow) with making the changes I request.

Your mileage may vary.
