XHTML and php

I'm making XHTML pages with php. They don't validate because of the php
stuff <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN bla bla PHPSESSID='....'> etc.
Should be something like <input type='hidden' .... />
Can this be arraged in some way or another. Shouldn't it always use xhtml,
which is valid html also?
