We recently installed PHP4 + Apache + OpenSSL + mod_auth_mysql on a
server and got it working, but only after several hours of tweaking
mod_auth_mysql Makefiles. We'd like to pass our fixes on to the
current maintainer.
The latest version we could find is mod_auth_mysql 2.20 dated
3-Oct-1998. The README says the maintainer is Zeve Suraski
<bourbon@netvision.net.il>, and the module home site is
http://bourbon.netvision.net.il/mod_auth_mysql/
However, that URL gives a "not found" error, and e-mail to Suraski
didn't yield a reply.
We did find a message where Suraski was asking for a maintainer to
take his place:
http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/18/1998/2/0/34293
The problems are:
** apMakefile.tmpl refers to several include files which have been
renamed in the current Apache (1.3.14).
** The configure/install process is an adventure and could be
regularized and simplified.
** Support for building mod_auth_mysql as a module (rather than
compiling it into Apache) is either broken or not implemented.
Is it true that a module so important to many PHP sites has been allowed
to be abandoned? Or is there anybody planning to bring it up to date?
