Actually, you could preserve the content by doing
nl2br($text);
This will change all your new lines in the text box to <BR> tag of HTML, and
thus all the paragraph + line breaks etc will be retained.
If you do use the <PRE> tags, I guess it might still appear as one looong
line, though I am not sure. If you find that it works, but dont like the
courier new font, force-change it by using a different STYLE (CSS)
definition..
