Yes and some other sites to note (there are many others) : http://devshed.com/Server_Side/PHP/ // Growing rapidly. http://www.phpbuilder.com/ // Yeppers for all. http://www.php.net/manual/ // Duh. Read 10x http://www.google.com/ // Very good for searching http://php.faqts.com/ // Q & A Archive http://www.zend.com/ // Quality articles/tutorials Specific tutorials : -------------------- http://www.zend.com/zend/tut/using-strings.php (I can't stress the importance of this tutorial enough) http://devshed.com/Server_Side/PHP/PHP101_1/ (part 1 of 5, very basic to moderate basic) http://php.vamsi.net/mysql/index.php (makes some good points) http://www.webmasterbase.com/article.php3?aid=228&pid=0 (makes some good points) http://www.gimpster.com/php/tutorial/index.php (just found this, has some good words) A Few Thoughts : -------------------- The manual really is nice, especially going through all of it just to get your feet wet and get the php propaganda into your brain. This way later on you'll be thinking "Man, I really want to do THIS" and a few seconds later you'll think "Hmm, I remember hearing about this once in the manual" and then you go to manual and find it and be happy. But, one should remember it is large and remembering all of it is "impossible" and not to fear the manual. So as you go through steal the example code and play with it. Use ucwords to make your words Capitalized! Strip them slashes, and add them too! Make a few arrays and view them! Create if/else statements and be silly, no problem. Have fun! if ($mydog == "bark") { echo 'Ruff Ruff!'; } Ruff! How silly. Play special note to the user comments and usually they are correct and many times helpful. Also, don't be shy to print out tutorials and use pen and mark them, this is good to do while in bed. Ask yourself questions and then find answers (search for them don't just ask!) but don't be shy either - remember, nobody has all the answers and everybody has to do a little research and testing before all is said and done. Find some scripts : ------------------- http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/ (the best) http://px.sklar.com/ (many classes , arrays and such) http://freshmeat.net/ (many many scripts) http://sourceforge.net/ (quite a few here too :) Other stuff : -------------------- http://www.sqlcourse.com/ (very useful interactive basic sql tutorial. a must!) http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/phppr/chapter/php_pkt.html (php pocket reference, interesting and nice) This must end soon, I am ending this email now.
