if you want a phps file that is always current and are using nix then do
symlinks :
ln -s file.php file.phps
but if you want to actually have them created ("on the fly") then see :

but as you now know, the showsource() function exists :
http://www.php.net/manual/function.show-source.php
so use it wisely.
