(this is my first effort with global). I didnt realise I also had to set the required strings using global in the other functions too. Seems to be working like a charm now. Because I was able to access $color1 and $color2 from within the main php file, I figured that I could also call upon it from an included files functions. Cheers Lars and to all Chris
