<sheepish grin>
oops Typo...
$arr = file('sb' . $sb . '.src');
will be
sba2.src
</sheepish grin>
if you want to see whats happening with the string concatenation, you could
also do something like
$str = 'sb' . $sb . '.src';
if (isset($debug)) {
print $str;
}
$arr = file ($str);
Then if you needed to debug you could pass scriptname.php?debug=1 and see
debug info.
Cheers,
Lawrence.

Its a cast to an int
where does $sb get its value from?
You can put anything in $sb, by default its a string.
Eg
If you have a2 in $sb
then
$arr = file('sb' . $sb . '.src');
will be
sbs2.src
