Would using su be safe with php?

Hello everybody,
I have a script that changes some files for me, and I don't like giving
everyone write permissions on my files. Couldn't I do something like
exec("su $myusername -c '$mycommand'); to make php change my files as if
$myusername was doing it? Would this be too unsafe or something? Thanks a
