Installing Apache is pretty straight-forward with their Wizard thingie.
Intalling PHP is also fairly simple from the zip file.
Edit httpd.conf (in the Apache/conf directory) and look for some stuff
about PHP in it.
Uncomment those lines, except don't uncomment the ones about PHP and
"Module" or "mod", cuz you're not running PHP as a Module. (You don't
have that option. Yet.) The lines you uncomment should look kinda like
this:
ScriptAlias php3 "C:/php/"
AddType application/x-script-php3 php3
Action application/x-script-php3 "/php3/php.exe"
I probably got some details wrong, so believe what's in the file already,
not me.
It's kinda nice to register the .php3 extension with php.exe so you can
(maybe) double click on a .php3 file and (maybe) see what's coming out of
it in a DOS window, but probably not totally necessary. You can always
open a DOS prompt and use c:\php3\php.exe -f c:\path\to\filename.php3
That's pretty much it. Oh, if you moved those DLLs into the
Windows/System folder, and it doesn't work, copy them so they site in the
same directory as php.exe
