Sounds like a permissions problem or myadmin configuration problem somewhere. This host won't help get you set up to your satisfaction? There are loads of hosts who would give you better service than that. Many on this list, I'm sure. I'm sure there's details I don't know about your arrangement, but hell, *we'll* host you and give you mysql access and a working phpmyadmin.
