So after many days and many questions and the help of many many people, I have finished my task scheduler!
I just wanted to say thank you to all who helped. Now I just need to make it look pretty and add some comments so I know why I did what I did. :)

and just as a reminder, this is for a totally internal system at this point so I can control all the data going into the database. Maybe I should release it as a package or tutorial... I'll think about it, if you guys think the code is up to snuff.
