The better way is to construct a class which has methods to store the data to
and retrieve from a database or text files.
You'll probably find some custom session implementations helpful, cause the
idea is quite similar. Try to look at PHPLib - there is a good example -
session and user specific variables storage and retrieval are using the same
mechanism. It is an easy task to implement Application state also.
