You may be seeing a limit set on the LDAP server you are using. (500 is the
default maximum result set size used in OpenLDAP so perhaps this is what
you're using? If so, try recompiling OpenLDAP with
LAPD_DEFAULT_SIZELIMIT - in ldapconfig.h.edit - set to a larger number
